What I'm supposed to be doing: getting ready to go to a volunteer recognition banquet on post
What I'm actually doing: sobering up from an afternoon of cocktails and phone calls with friends. Ugh. What is wrong with me?
Oh well. When Doug is at work, I find more and more often that I'm not at all motivated to do things I 'should' be doing. Instead, I drink, chat, and watch sappy movies.
And I know, I never update! I suck. I decided to give up Facebook for Lent. I figured that that was the one thing I spend the most time on (aka, checking it on my Blackberry at least 20 times a day!). It's been almost two weeks, and so far...Success!! On the downside, I totally don't know what's happening in my friends' lives anymore, as that's the only way we communicate these days!
So instead of updating my Facebook status twenty times, I give you one new blog. How's that for a trade?
As I have nothing exciting to say, I will tell you all that I LOVE my friend Keri's blog! (I don't know how to link to it, but if you read my blog, you can find it.) She is the most adorable thing since sliced bread. No, seriously. She's adorable. If you have kids, you need to read her stuff. I can't imagine ever being that creative.
The only new thing going on in my life right now continues to be food. Yum! Last night (well, all day yesterday, as it's a crock pot meal!), I made Garlic Chicken with Artichokes. The recipe is in the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. It was fantastic! I served it over white rice, and it had the texture and smell of a gumbo. So good! Definitely try it!
Lastly, I just want to make a quick comment on my friends. You may or may not know that I lived at Fort Carson, Colorado my first few married years. During that time, I met some AMAZING women! Over the past week, I've gotten calls/texts/e-mails from them randomly, and it has been so great. What we had there was unique and amazing, and we'll probably never have it again, but I have such great memories of you ladies! I think of you often, and whenever I feel overwhelmed, I think of all the things that we/you have overcomed, and I'm able to get through. Thanks for always being there and always being strong, Godly women.

Thanks for posting! I miss you! I too am not on FB due to lent, because like you, I also was on it all the time! Haha! As for your AMAZING friends in Colorado: I'm honored to be one of them. We all are so lucky to have had each other during that very tough year. God blessed us! I will always keep you and them close to my heart. Some things don't change <3 But seriously, we need to get together. We need to plan something that we can all make it to or that has child care ;) Love ya, girl!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks for the shout out! I miss you girls so much! It's nice to know that wherever we are in the world, your just a phone call away and I'll know you'll be there until the end. Love you!
